New Defense and Interior Ministers Sworn In Before Sovereignty Council President

Lt. Gen. Hassan Daoud Kayan and Lt. Gen. Babiker Samra Mustafa took the oath of office on Saturday before the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan. They were sworn in as Sudan’s new Ministers of Defense and Interior, respectively. The ceremony was attended by Transitional Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris and other high-ranking officials.

In a press statement, Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Kayan expressed gratitude for the leadership’s trust and acknowledged Sudan’s challenging circumstances. He emphasized the need for unity to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity and committed to ensuring national security, peace, and sovereignty. Minister Kayan assured the public of his ministry’s readiness to protect national unity and enforce the rule of law, praising the sacrifices of the armed forces and joint forces.

Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Mustafa also acknowledged the gravity of Sudan’s security challenges, praising recent victories by the armed forces. He announced the formulation of an emergency security plan to restore state authority and uphold the rule of law, focusing on maintaining public safety and delivering essential services.
