Transitional Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris emphasized the vital role of government oversight, particularly through the Chamber of the Auditor General, underscoring the state’s ongoing commitment to transparency and integrity in public administration.
During a visit to the Chamber’s headquarters in Port Sudan on Sunday, Dr. Idris reviewed the institution’s operations and was briefed by Auditor General Salahuddin Mohamed Osman and staff on the Chamber’s mandate and auditing processes.
Following the meeting, Osman stated that discussions covered all aspects of financial auditing and the Chamber’s mission to uphold accountability. He outlined the Chamber’s dedication to technical efficiency, independence, and safeguarding public funds.
Osman also presented the Prime Minister with detailed financial and performance reports from past years across various state institutions. He noted the Chamber’s recognized autonomy, ranking 1st in the Arab world, 2nd in Africa, and 17th globally for institutional independence according to World Bank benchmarks
