Port Sudan – 6 July 2025 – Prime Minister Dr. Kamal Idris has affirmed that enhancing the infrastructure of the telecommunications sector is a strategic priority, emphasizing that digital transformation is one of the fundamental pillars for building and developing a modern state based on scientific and technological foundations. This came during his meeting today in Port Sudan with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation, Dr. Al-Sadiq Jamal Al-Din. The Prime Minister was briefed on the ministry’s current status and the challenges facing the sector, particularly the systematic destruction of infrastructure caused by recent attacks. According to the Undersecretary, the discussion focused on key directives from the Prime Minister, including the need to develop fiber optic networks to support e-learning, enhance investment in artificial intelligence technologies, expand fifth-generation (5G) networks, and improve postal services. Dr. Al-Sadiq emphasized that these directives represent an important step with a positive impact on the sector’s development, reaffirming the ministry’s full commitment to their implementation as a solid foundation for a comprehensive digital future in the country.
